Learn Hand Building Techniques at Ceramic Art Workshop

Experience the beauty of creating with your hands in this relaxed, guided ceramics class. Using Slab hand-building techniques.

You will learn a hand-building technique slab — and use it to create a unique piece such as a mug. No pottery wheel is used in this class; instead, you shape the clay directly with your hands, making this one of the most approachable and meditative ways to work with clay. This is a weekly workshop. Registration and payment are required for each session. Each session costs only $80. Limited Seats for better focus. 4 Seats are available.

Sunday Wheel Course

Join us every Sunday at So-q Studio for a hands-on wheel-throwing experience designed for both beginners and returning students.

This course introduces the fundamentals of working on the pottery wheel, including centering clay, pulling walls, shaping forms, and finishing techniques.

Students will learn how to create functional and artistic pieces such as cups, bowls, and small vessels while developing confidence and control on the wheel. Each session includes guided demonstrations, individual instruction, and plenty of practice time in a relaxed and supportive studio environment.

This course is perfect for anyone who wants to explore ceramics, improve their skills, or enjoy a creative and mindful Sunday in Calgary. All materials and firings are provided — just bring your curiosity and love for clay. Clay, Tools, Glaze and Firing for Two pieces are included. 4 Sessions. $250. Sunday Wheel Throwing Workshop With No Experience

This hands-on wheel-throwing workshop is designed especially for people with no prior pottery experience.

Participants will be guided step-by-step through the fundamentals of working on the pottery wheel — from centering the clay to shaping their first bowls or cups.

In a relaxed and supportive studio environment, students will explore how clay responds to touch, learn essential tools and techniques, and enjoy the calming, creative process of making pottery. By the end of the session, each participant will have their own handmade piece to keep, which will be professionally fired and glazed by So-q Studio.

This workshop is perfect for anyone curious about pottery, looking for a creative escape, or wanting to try something new in a fun, welcoming space. Clay, Tools, Glaze and Firing are Included. Each session requires seprate registration and payment.
